Rachael + Jim - 5.29.10

Every wedding is unique to every couple. That is why I love my job so, so much. There are so many beautiful stories to tell through the pictures. Rachael & Jim are no exception. They have come a long way to make their special day come true. In 2006, Rachael was diagnosed with an extremely rare bone marrow disorder. She would need a bone marrow transplant to survive, a chilling prospect for such a young couple. Answering their prayers, an anonymous donor stepped forward to donate bone marrow for Rachael. With the new bone marrow, she has steadily improved, with Jim behind her every step of the way. She still has a number of challenges in her life, including having a complete hip replacement only a few days ago, but she and Jim have a very bright and wonderful future ahead of them.

Rachael & jim's wedding reflected the emotion and love that has helped them through Rachael's illness. Both families are wonderful, warm, and loving. Their friends are fun, vibrant, and down to earth. There were loads of extra special "touches" to the day that truly reflected Rachael and Jim and everything they mean to each other.

Since her bone marrow transplant, Rachael has met and become quite close with the donor who saved her life. Bone marrow donation is not an easy process. To see someone go through that pain for someone else who he had never met before is awe-inspiring. Rachel's donor gave a heartfelt toast and they had a special "Donor Dance" that was emotional and beautiful. Just a truly special wedding day for a truly special couple.

Please, please, please, if you are not already a part of the National Marrow Donor Registry, please join now. You could save lives!

Now time for the pics!

First view of Rachael in her wedding dress!

EVERYONE goes to the J.C. Nichols Fountain on the Plaza, which is great, but I was so happy to hear Rachael & Jim wanted to go to one of my favorite fountains in the Meyer Blvd. circle on Ward Parkway. The light was perfect and the pictures turned out great!

During the father-daughter dance, Rachael's brother and mother joined in for a true family dance. That is just the kind of family they are---it was so touching!

Rachael's donor's toast and dance. Not a dry eye in the house.

REEEEEACH!!!

Congrats Rachael & Jim, and best wishes for continued health and happiness!
